10 New Cafes and Restaurants to Visit in November 2020

2020 – what a strange year indeed. Yet it seems to have gone by so fast that we’re down to the last two months. The month ahead is incredibly exciting for foodies out there as many F&B establishments are opening their doors. We’re seeing everything from wagyu toast, french crepes to elevated hawker fare. Here are some new cafes and restaurants not to be missed!

French Fold

From the team behind Merci Marcel comes French Fold, a new dining destination that focuses on crepe and galettes. If galettes sound foreign to you, they’re traditional French pancakes made from buckwheat flour. Here, they’re folded in on the sides to form a squarish pocket and then filled with savoury ingredients. You have a total of 13 galettes to choose from, and enjoy in one of their three themed areas: Lounge, Cafe Chic and Garden Patio.

Flipper’s

Flipper’s, the famous souffle pancake cafe hailing from Tokyo is now in Singapore. Its first Southeast Asian cafe in Takashimaya will feature plain souffle pancakes with a dollop of maple butter cream, or with toppings such as fresh fruits. Those who prefer savoury pancakes can also look forward to variations with eggs benedict, bacon or shrimp!

Prawn Noodle Bar

Prawn noodles are a quintessential part of Singapore cuisine, but Prawn Noodle Bar is giving this humble dish a glow up with a whole series of prawn-themed starters and mains. The classic prawn noodles are reinvented with the restaurant’s signature prawn broth, topped with a generous serving of grilled king prawns, rolled pork belly, beansprouts, pork lard and fried shallots.

Miznon

It’s not common to find Israeli food in Singapore, but Miznon is here to change that by bringing their cuisine’s iconic street food, but with a twist. After its humble beginning in Israel, the international chain has now expanded to 10 cities, making a name for itself as a go-to spot for pitas and roasted baby cauliflower.

Tempura Tendon Tenya

Japan’s number one tendon chain has arrived on our shores! Combining Japanese rice with fried tempura, tendons bring together crispy and chewy textures into one yummy bowl. So the next time you crave for Japanese food, why not try out the new Tempura Tendon Tenya? Also don’t miss their creamy Hokkaido milk ice cream that’s sold at just $2!

Ginza Shinto

Speaking about Japanese cuisine, we might have an abundance of Japanese food places here, but no one’s gonna complain about another one. There’s no such thing as too much sushi! Ginza Shinto is a new omakase joint where you can expect to get fresh sushi and donburi bowls, with ingredients sourced directly from Japan’s Toyosu Market. Treat yourself to one of their three omakase menus this November!

8ASH

Another new player on the block, 8ASH is a new multi-concept diner in Ann Siang Hill, where three food brands exist under one roof. There is Mirai Burgers, an American-Japanese burger joint, Hoshi Hill that serves up casual luxe Japanese food, and Love Handle Burgers for vegan fare. The place is stylised like a retro American diner, making for an IG-worthy dining spot.

Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg

‘Wagyu’ and ‘affordable’ do not usually come together, but they’re found common ground at the new Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg. You can get hamburg patties and sandwiches made with Japanese A5 wagyu beef from just $7.70, and feel free to load it up with toppings such as cheese, omelette, and more for an additional dollar.

Tittle Tattle

Dessert and waffles fans, be sure to check out Tittle Tattle and their over-the-top waffles galore. Think crispy Belgian waffles with rainbow biscuits wafers, gem biscuits, macarons, marshmallows, Kinder Bueno bars, strawberries, icing sugar and even an ice cream cone, because why not. They’re also open for 24 hours a day, so no more scratching your head over where to go when your sweet tooth acts up in the middle of the night!

Wan Wan Thai

More dessert goodness – Wan Wan Thai is a new Thai-style dessert cafe with three highlights: thick Shibuya-style toast or waffles, both with ice cream, or bingsus. Conveniently located at Bencoolen, the cafe is a short walk away from Rochor MRT station and it’s a great place to hang out until the wee hours. (They’re open until 3 am!)
