5 Taiwanese Cafes in Singapore For All Your Lu Rou Fan & Oyster Mee Sua Cravings

Eating through Taiwan is something we’ve terribly missed. The popular destination is well-loved for many reasons, but our favourite is its night markets and street food culture. From oyster mee sua to fried chicken cutlets, beef noodles and minced pork rice, we just can’t get enough of these Taiwanese classics. But thanks to Singapore being a foodie’s paradise, great Taiwanese food can be found here too. If you’re missing Shilin and the many other night markets, here are 5 Taiwanese cafes in Singapore to visit.

1. Eat 3 Bowls

True to its name, this eatery serves three hearty Taiwanese rice bowls. Take your pick from oyster intestine mee sua, braised pork rice and chicken rice! Can’t make up your mind? Go for the Signature 3 Bowls set, which comes complete with a trio of petit-sized bowls. You can also pair your order with some sides like tofu with century eggs or Taiwanese sausage!

Address: 462 Crawford Ln, #01-61, Singapore 190462

2. 8 Degrees Taiwanese Bistro

Named after a Jay Chou song, 8 Degrees will impress you with their extensive menu which includes classics like pork belly rice, oyster mee sua, salted chicken and pickled radish omelette. Apart from savouries, there are also sweets like Honey Butter Thick Toast and dessert bowls. We recommend coming in a bigger group so you can get a taste of everything!

Address: 37 Teck Chye Terrace, Singapore 545734

3. Monga Fried Chicken

Taiwanese fried chicken is our guilty pleasure. Who can resist a crispy, juicy piece of chicken cutlet? At Monga Fried Chicken, chicken fillets two-centimetre thick are marinated and dipped in batter, then deep fried to a crispy, crunchy perfection. Choose from three different flavours – salt and pepper, chilli paprika or seaweed!

Address: 50 Jurong Gateway Rd, #B1-K10 Jem, Singapore 608549

4. Xiang Hao Chi

Quietly tucked along the famous stretch of Upper Thomson is Xiang Hao Chi. They’ve been here for quite a long time, but they’re often overshadowed by the other famous eateries in the area. For those in the know, this is an affordable joint for some yummy Taiwanese fare like minced pork rice, mee sua, braised pork noodles and many more!

Address: 224 Upper Thomson Road, #01-224,, Singapore 574356

5. Roji Monster

The internationally-renowned Taiwanese shaved ice store arrived on our shores last year and they’ve continued to enjoy much success. Their adorable monster shaved ice comes in flavours like Uji Matcha, Milk, Black Sesame and Belgian Chocolate. You can also choose two toppings such as their housemade mochi and doriyaki, or go for other goodies like soft serve ice cream or waffles.

Address: 52 Tg Pagar Rd, Singapore 088473
