Phase 3 Starts Today! Here's What You Need to Know.

After six months of living under Phase 2 measures, Singapore will be (finally) entering Phase 3 of the post-circuit breaker from tomorrow, Dec 28.

What exactly can we look forward to in Phase 3? Here's what it entails:

Social gatherings of up to eight people

You no longer have to leave out the sixth person in social gatherings anymore! Groups of up to eight – an increase from the current limit of five – will be allowed to dine out together, play sports, hang out at the park, and so on.

If you're staying home, you're allowed to receive up to eight visitors – just in time for a small New Year's Eve countdown and celebration!

You will still have to wear a mask whenever you leave your home, and keep a safe distance of at least 1-metre from other groups and people. Those who are especially vulnerable, like our seniors, are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. And to reduce the likelihood of spread, we should also limit our social circle to a small group of regular contacts.

Up to 250 persons in religious services

Places of worship including temples, churches and mosques can now host up to 250 people across multiple zones of 50 each.

Live performances are also allowed to resume for rites, prayers and other services held by religious organisations. Up to 10 persons will be allowed to unmask at any given time and of the 10, up to five persons will be allowed to unmask for singing.

Up to eight visitors for marriage solemnizations at home

That means that live instrumental music will also be permitted at weddings held at an indoor venue, as well as funerals (no wind instruments yet, though.)

Wedding solemnizations at home can also welcome up to eight visitors, excluding members of the household, the solemniser and the vendors.

Up to 250 persons for live performances

Live performances have been allowed to resume since Nov 1, with two zones of 50 audience members.

Some venues have been piloting larger-scale performances of up to 250 people and outdoor performances of up to 100 people.

In Phase 3, both indoor and outdoor live performances will now be allowed up to 250 people in zones of 50 people each.

TraceTogether-only SafeEntry to be implemented early next year

Singapore has reached the 70 per cent mark for TraceTogether usage, which was a condition for Phase 3 to begin. TraceTogether-only SafeEntry will be implemented as the exclusive mode of entry starting early next year.

We know everyone's excited to finally be able to hang out with a larger group of friends, but let's continue to remain responsible in practicing social distancing. Here's hoping 2021 will be a better year for everyone!
