6 Best Spots For Kayaking in Singapore

As Singaporeans we complain about our hot and humid weather a lot, but with it permanently being summer it means that we can enjoy outdoor activities all year round! Besides nature parks, cycling and hiking trails, there are many places where you can go kayaking in Singapore. We’ve rounded up some of the best places to go kayaking and satisfy your thirst for adventure!

1. Water Sports Centre, Singapore Sports Hub

For a kayaking adventure with stunning views of Singapore’s skyline, head over to the Water Sports Centre at Singapore Sports Hub. Rates start from $12 for 2 hours, and no worries if you're a beginner! No certification is required for their sit-on-top kayaks and canoe. Folks who are more advanced can test their skills and rent a closed deck kayak or outrigger canoe.

2. MacRitchie Reservoir

We love the hiking trails at MacRitchie Reservoir, but kayaking here is an entirely different experience. Head over to Paddle Lodge that’s operated by the Singapore Canoe Federation. Rental here starts from $15 per hour for a single or double sit-on-top kayak, or flex your one-star kayaking cert and rent a closed-deck kayak instead!

3. Lower Seletar Water Sports Centre

Folks living in the north would be no stranger to Lower Seletar Reservoir. Known for its calm and peaceful waters, a kayak trip here truly immerses you in nature. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as sea eagles and kingfishers! If you can’t get enough, book the ABC kayaking experience. The two-hour tour will take you through the history of Seletar and educate you on the flora and fauna around you!

4. Ola Beach Club

Try something different at Sentosa’s Ola Beach Club! You can rent everything from kayaks to paddleboards and even water-propelled jet packs. You don’t need any experience to rent a single or double kayak, there are experienced guides around as you paddle on the ocean. When you’re done, return to shore and dig into some Hawaiian-style dishes such as Lomi-Lomi Salmon and Kalua Pork Taco!

5. Pulau Ubin

Take a trip off the mainland and head to Pulau Ubin for a kayaking adventure through the island’s mangroves! Book a tour on Klook, where local guides share more about the heritage of Pulau Ubin as you paddle through its waters. Keep your eyes peeled for otters, pink dolphins, herons and hornbills!

6. Southern Islands

This seven-island kayaking trail in the Southern Islands is not for the faint of heart! If you’re up for a challenge, go on an eight-hour or two-day-one-night sea adventure that’ll take you to Kusu Island, St John’s Island, Lazarus Island and more! If time permits, you’ll even be able to visit the secret river on Seringat Island and stop by Pink Lagoon!
