Creamier Joins Hands With Local Hawker Store For New Ice Cream Flavour

To celebrate Singapore’s 55th birthday this year, local handcrafted ice cream parlour Creamier has joined hands with a local beancurd stall to come up with their newest seasonal ice cream flavour: Tau Huay, or beancurd.

With their home base at Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, the folks behind Creamier frequent the Toa Payoh West Market & Food Centre located at Blk 127 Lor 1, never leaving without a carrier filled with stacks of beancurd pudding and soya milk from their favourite stall, Pure Soya Bean.

Apart from using the freshest soya milk from Pure Soya Bean, which also happens to be organic and GMO-free, Creamier has pushed the envelope further by adding fresh beancurd and the soya bean pulp to enhance the delicate soya bean flavour. And hey, it’s also zero-waste too!

You can now experience the Tau Huay ice cream at all three of Creamier's outlets, or purchase a pint of the ice cream at their online store. They have also created their own take on the well-loved Michael Jackson drink: the Yin Yang Jelly Drink, which is made with refreshing grass jelly along with a generous scoop of Tau Huay ice cream.

Creamier also shares that Desheng Chen, the owner of Pure Soya Bean, starts at 5 am to set up the shop and grind the pre-soaked soya beans. They are prepared and cooked with the utmost care, using tried-and-tested methods and recipes.

“I’ve loved soya milk and beancurd ever since I was a kid. Right now I'm running my own business, selling treats that are close to my heart, doing and facing something I love every single day doesn’t make me feel bored at all." Desheng shares.

"I welcome the challenges knowing at the end of the day, I am able to drink soya milk and have beancurd every day, while doing business at the same time. It’s these simple pleasures that are part of the reward. It’s also very fulfilling whenever a first-time customer who patronises us compliments our soya milk and beancurd. It makes us really happy!”

Desheng also adds that lunchtime is his favourite time of the day, as it's when he sees his regulars, friends and meet new customers. And after a long, hard day at work, what he looks forward to is going home for dinner with loved ones.

"What makes me happy is enjoying a simple home-cooked meal that’s prepared with love. I am an easily contented person, which is probably why I keep a positive outlook on life.”

There’s no doubt that Desheng is an inspiration when it comes to working hard and savouring the simple things in life. Creamier's philosophy is all about remembering the little moments that leave a remarkable impression, be it greeting regulars, returning home to a home-cooked meal after a long day, or even just the simple joy of tucking into a delicious scoop of handcrafted ice cream.

Make sure to try out Creamier and Pure Soya Bean's Tau Huay ice cream and let us know what you think!
