It's time to bid goodbye to the default WFH mode that's been the norm for most of the past year. Whether you’re one of those happy about going back to the office or mourning it, it was good while it lasted. Let’s take a moment to revisit some of the best things about WFH!
Getting an extra hour of snooze time
The best thing about WFH is the extra sleep that we all get. Since we save time on getting dressed, waiting for the public transport and making the commute to work, we get to spend a bit more time snoozing, and roll out of bed a nice 30 minutes before work time. But looking on the bright side, going back to the office means we’ll have a much more regular schedule, and we’ll be more inclined to turn in earlier instead of binge-watching another episode on Netflix.
Working in PJs
The office fashionista might not agree, but not having to pick an outfit to wear every morning and not having to put on makeup to look presentable is a great thing. Some of us just love our PJs! But on the downside, staying in them all day can sometimes make us feel lethargic. Now that we’ll have to go back to the office, getting dressed up can help us feel more ready to take on the day!
No peak hour commute
Crowded buses and trains or getting stuck in traffic on the highway are probably the worst things about going to the office. But with workplaces at half capacity, the commute to work has been so much more pleasant for those of us who are scheduled to go into the office. We’ll miss getting a seat on the buses and trains!
More personal time
Be it exercise, meals with our family, or catching up with our close friends, not having to be at the office for eight hours a day means that we’ve had more time to spend on our personal goals or with the ones that we love. We’ll miss our evening runs and eating lunch at home!
Saving on lunch money
Some of us may have gained a little extra pounds during WFH, but we can’t say that we miss trying to decide what to eat and paying $11 to try to eat healthy. WFH has helped us save some money by cutting back on eating out, and some lucky ones even have a family member at home who does the cooking, settling all your three meals!
Being with our pets all day
Pet moms and dads, please relate and let’s commiserate. The hardest thing about going back to the office is leaving our pets at home! When we get frustrated at work, it helps that our pets are just right there to help us feel better again. We’ll sorely miss stealing a minute or two out of our day to cuddle our pets.
Lesser distractions
This probably wouldn’t apply to working parents with young kids at home, but we definitely don’t miss the nosy colleague who likes to pop by every now and then to share the latest gossip while we’re trying to get some work done. WFH has made some of us more productive without these unnecessary distractions! On the flipside, there are also those of us whose productivity has taken a hit because of distractions like YouTube and Netflix… You’ll probably benefit from going back to the office more often.
