A Singaporean icon, the number of ice cream carts has been dwindling over the years. Where there were once countless ice cream uncles along Orchard Road, now remain just about four or five. If you don't have an ice cream cart in your neighbourhood, fret not! You can still relive your childhood at these places in Singapore. Sim Lim Uncle
You might know of Uncle Boon, the 90-year-old well-known as the ice cream uncle outside of Sim Lim Tower who went viral last year as netizens gathered to help him sell his ice cream. Uncle Boon has been plying his trade for almost 50 years selling popsicles, cones and ice cream blocks with wafers and bread. Make sure to drop by if you’re in the area and show your support for the elderly uncle!
Tampines Ice Cream
Selling at Tampines Central Park, east siders can look to the uncle and auntie at Tampines Ice Cream for your fix of traditional ice cream. They’ve got 12 flavours available along with the usual wafer biscuits and rainbow bread. Each whole block of ice cream costs $8, and they are available for both delivery and pick-ups too!
Traditional Magnolia Ice Cream Auntie Law
West and North siders, you can look to Auntie Law for your old-school ice cream fix. These days you can spot her motorbike and Yellow Magnolia umbrella outside Yew Tee MRT station, but she also takes in orders for delivery, takeaways and pick-up options. Located outside Ngee Ann City Shopping Centre, drop by Uncle Chieng’s for a sweet treat. Apart from the usual flavours, we hear that he also has those that are harder to come by, such as Nata De Coco and Tutti Frutti!
