Sky High Hawker: Enjoy Local Delights With A View

We've seen lots of different, even atas interpretations of our favourite hawker foods. But now, you can enjoy artisanal versions of your favourite dishes from one of Singapore’s most iconic locations!

Passionately curated by chef-consultant Jeremy Nugee, CÉ LA VI first launched the monthly gastronomic feast of culinary sensations during National Day weekend this year. Its second edition, which is taking place this weekend on 5 to 6 September 2020, aims for us to rediscover Singapore’s heritage cuisine.

This month’s event is an all-female lineup (girl power yay!), with food prepared by Singapore’s most renowned chefs and local hawkers, such as Janice Wong, World Gourmet Summits Awards winner and owner of 2am:dessertbar; Aisha Hashim, a fifth generation hawker and the owner of Haig Road Putu Piring; Petrina Loh, owner of Morsels restaurant; Eugenia Ong from Table At 7; Jasmine Tan from Mui Siong Minced Meat Noodle, a stall run by three siblings who named their business after a stall their mother started; Claire Ariela Shen from Rainbow Lapis and Zirah and Ijah from Project Cookoh, a home-based business started by stay-at-home-mums during the circuit breaker.

CÉ LA VI Group’s executive chef, Joey Sergentakis, will also be serving his BAO BY CÉ LA VI menu, which boasts an impeccable fusion of east meets west.

Dishes specially prepared by the participating chefs will be from $10 each. It might be sky-high compared to what you'll find at your neighbourhood hawker centre, but a part of the cost comes with the experience of each chef and the work that they will be putting in. Each of them will not only serve a dish of their own, but also create one specially for the event!

Reservations are required and guests will be seated alfresco for that prime view over Singapore's skyline. Reservations are limited to 90 mins, and tables will be released after 15 minutes, so do arrive early! As per social distancing guidelines, no more than 5 pax will be allowed at each table.

Each guest will be able to order up to three dishes from the QR code menu. Need a midday alcoholic drink? The dishes can also be paired with peranakan-inspired cocktails made in collaboration with Brass Lion Distillery!

The event will run from 12pm – 10pm this Saturday and Sunday. Click here to make your reservation! And don’t worry about dressing up to the nines, because the dress code is (thankfully) casual! Not sure about you, but I certainly wouldn’t wanna be stuffing myself at this feast while wearing the usual bodycon dress that I keep for rooftop bar parties.
