7 Singapore Home Based Bakers to Support Beyond the Circuit Breaker

The circuit breaker might be over and many of us are eager to resume our weekend cafe-hopping plans (if we haven’t already), but let’s not forget about the home based bakers that brought us comfort with their sweet treats while we were all hunkered down at home.

So as an ode to the home bakers, here’s an extensive list of home based dessert parlours to sate your sweet tooth beyond the circuit breaker.

The Circuit Baker

You can never go wrong with some fudgy brownies to satisfy a chocolate craving. At The Circuit Baker, there is only one item on the menu – Sea Salt Fudgey Brownies (S$15 for 6 pieces) – so you know it’s gotta be good. Slots open every Sunday at 12pm. To make an order, you’ll have to fill out an order form via their Instagram bio which will close as soon as they hit their quota, so fastest fingers first!

Paparch

Paparch is a Muslim-owned social media sensation specializing in burnt cheesecake (S$49 for one). Its slightly bitter exterior goes perfectly with a molten melt-in-your-mouth cream cheese centre, and you can probably tell how good it is by the huge following its gained over the recent circuit breaker – they’re already fully booked for June and July! But don’t despair, because Paparch is in the midst of expanding their team to bring you guys more molten goodness.

Doughter Bakery

Just looking at Doughter Bakery’s Instagram feed has us drooling all over. Aesthetics aside, their Sea Salt and Chocolate Cookie (S$20 for 14 pieces) is perfect with a cup of milk or coffee, and their range of Mochi Cakes (from S$18 for 6 pieces) has a crunchy crispy crust and chewy interior that makes for a textural heaven. Until the end of June, 10% of their profits will also go towards The Courage Fund that supports vulnerable persons and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

a summer in hwe

A pop-up by a chef whose day job has been put on hold due to COVID-19, a summer in hwe brings you boxes of delicious pastries, handcrafted in small batches from home. All their items are freshly baked each morning, so there are only a limited number of boxes each day. Best as a mid-day treat, each box (S$29) comes with a brioche loaf, a jar of orange marmalade, lemon cake palmier, bacon & garlic twist and a cheese straw. They are down to their last dates in June, so make sure you don’t miss out!

A Wild Flower Bakery

Whoever said that donuts have to be sinful probably hasn’t heard of A Wild Flower Bakery. Believe it or not, their entire menu is low-carb, sugar-free, keto-friendly and suitable for diabetics. Items include Original Cinnamon (S$23 for six), Earl Grey with Cream Cheese Filling (S$32 for six), Dark Chocolate with Chocolate Glazing (S$32 for six), Matcha with Matcha Glazing topped with Dessicated Coconuts (S$32 for six) and also a Father’s Day special of Coffee Donuts with Coffee Glaze and Toasted Walnuts (S$35 for six).

She Sells Seashells

Dainty, subtle and elegant – that’s probably what many of us think of when we think about French cuisine. Long been touted as the exemplary standards of the culinary world, what better way to demonstrate this than with French pastries? At She Sells Seashells, you’ll find French goodies like artisanal madeleines and financiers in unique flavours. Their bake sale for June is full, but stay tuned on their Instagram page for announcements on the next one!

Semi-Sweet by DN

Semi-Sweet by DN specializes in cute petite-sized desserts such as fruit tarts, macarons and brownies made with halal ingredients. They are best known for their weekly bake sales boxes (S$29.90 each) that consist of different goodies each time! Even Michelle Chong is a fan and raved about their bake sale box on her IG stories. Semi-Sweet will take in their next bake sale orders on 21 June and delivery will be made on 26 and 28 June.
