There are all sorts of glamping adventures out there these days, as many different businesses pivot to find their footing during Covid-19. If you’re an animal lover who finds regular staycations too mundane, Singapore’s River Safari is rolling out a ‘Glamping with the Manatees’ programme.
The two days and one night programme will be available for a limited time between Dec 21 and 27, and you'll get to spend the night and wake up next to the graceful underwater creatures in the air-conditioned comfort of River Safari's Amazon Flooded Forest.
You'll be spending the night in comfortable “fairytale bell tents” that come with an air mattress, pillows and blankets. Shower facilities will be available at night and you'll have to bring your own towels. Don’t worry about your cameras and mobile devices, because the tents will also come with electrical points.
But it's not just about spending a night with manatees – River Safari has also planned out an activity-packed itinerary in the 2D1N itinerary.
Check-in is at 3pm and you'll start off on a trail along the Rivers of the World, before watching the Once Upon A River animal presentation where you’ll be given reserved seating.
Next, you’ll be ushered to the Squirrel Monkey Forest in the Wild Amazonia for a special guided experience with primates. You’ll also get to mingle with a mystery animal before having dinner under the stars at Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant.
In the evening, you’ll be taken to the Amazon Flooded Forest, which houses the world’s largest freshwater aquarium, where you will participate in a manatee-inspired activity and learn interesting facts about them, like how the manatees were moved from Singapore Zoo to River Safari, and try to spot Canola, the first hand-raised manatee calf who is now a mother herself.
Breakfast will be served the next day at Inuka Cafe before it's time to head home at 10am.
The Glamping with Manatees programme will be available daily from Dec 21 to 27, and prices for a tent that can accommodate up to four people start from $699.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use your SingapoRediscovers vouchers for this overnight experience. Fastest fingers first as there are only four tents available a night!
