6 Dempsey Restaurants to Visit For Your Next Date Night

Dempsey Hill is bursting with great dining options and it’s home to some of the best restaurants in Singapore. Just a few minutes away from Orchard Road, this tranquil hill is a beloved lifestyle destination for locals and expats alike. The It spot for a weekend brunch or to impress your date, here are some Dempsey restaurants to check out the next time you’re planning a special night out!

1. Burnt Ends

Taking 34th place in the World's Top 50 Best Restaurants, almost everything on the menu at Burnt Ends touches the two oven, four-tonne brick kiln designed by Chef-Owner Dave Pynt. It is notoriously hard to get a seat at this Michelin Star establishment with reservations opening 30 days in advance. You’ll be wise to start planning in advance! The menu changes everyday, but you can expect modern Australian barbecue and boutique wines and spirits in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

2. Bincho at Min Jiang

Take your hot date to Bincho at Min Jiang for a classy Japanese izakaya experience. They boast an ever-evolving menu based on the 24 micro-seasons in Japan, showcasing the best of what each season has to offer. “Bincho” comes from the famed Japanese white charcoal bincho-tan, which the restaurant uses to cook their yakitori. Must-trys include the chicken thigh, and tsukune (chicken meatballs). If you’re adventurous, try their tail cartilage, gizzards, and cockscomb!

3. The Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar

Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s flagship store in Singapore, his involvement in every aspect of his restaurants from concept all the way down to staff selection is very apparent here. And when you see him in action in the open kitchen, it isn’t just cooking, it is a performance piece! Start with the signature Egg Caviar, which will quite possibly be the fluffiest eggs you’ve ever had. Then, move on to mains like the Black Truffle and Fontina Cheese Pizza, Tomato Gazpacho, or the Maine Lobster!

4. Blu Kouzina

Blu Kouzina is one of our favourite Greek restaurants in Singapore, originating from a Greek couple’s love of home cooked food and sharing it with their loved ones. Take delight in their offerings like oven-baked eggplant, spinach pie, grilled sardines and more. You’ll also find Greek red and white wines, as well as imported beers and liqueurs!

5. Da Paolo Dempsey

Feast on traditional Italian dishes with a modern twist at Da Paolo Dempsey. Think handmade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, tiramisu, gelato, and an extensive wine and cocktail menu. The interior is inspired by the Italian Mediterranean, and it's the perfect space for a brunch date or a lavish dinner with your significant other. Choose between the indoor dining area with a good view of the pasta counter and wood-fire oven, or the outdoor area that overlooks the greenery of Dempsey Hill!

6. Open Farm Community

One of the first few farm-to-table restaurants in Singapore, Open Farm Community is an open-concept eatery with a strong focus on locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients. Set within an edible garden, this space redefines destination dining in Singapore. Food wise, enjoy the pleasures of simple, freshly harvested ingredients that are both nourishing and a visual feast.
