7 McDonald's Dupes That Taste Exactly Like the Real Thing

McDonald's is a real indulgence, and even an essential for some. Remember when so many of us were devastated when they had to close their doors temporarily during the circuit breaker? But it was thanks to that, that we found replacements for the real thing that started to make waves online.

Today, we have a list of different fast food items that you can purchase in supermarkets or online that taste just like the real thing. Did we also mention that they're cheaper than the original?

McNuggets

Oh the golden and succulent nuggets that we all know and love, so much that some of us can even devour a box of 20 all by ourselves! By now you might've heard all about the hype over Freezepak Crispy Chicken Nuggets ($7.50/1kg), that tastes, smells and feels just like the real thing.

We also love Farmland's Chicken Nuggets ($4.30/400g), which is also almost the same satisfyingly succulent, juicy nuggets cloaked in a crispy layer of pepper-flecked batter. The only difference between this and a McNugget is that Farmland’s have airy pockets between its crust and meat.

And for those who prefer the spicy nuggets instead, the Fairprice Hot and Spicy Chicken nuggets are a great choice, and they're only $6.15/850g!

Twister Fries

Raise your hand if you wish the twister fries were permanent items on the menu, and not just during Chinese New Year. Well, now you can have them as permanent and essential items at home!

Check out Arby’s Seasoned Curly Fries. At just $6.90/650g, you can now devour them by the bucketful and at a fraction of what McDonald's usually sells them for. And with the fact that they have 0 trans fat, you can now enjoy them feeling relatively guilt-free.

Fries

You might be familiar with netizen Leslie Koh, who discovered the Pizza Hut drumlets dupe, and it turns out he made another brilliant find that he claims is 99% similar to McDonalds fries.

Everything about the Farmland Premium ShoeString Fries ($$3.95/1kg) resembles McDonald's, from the shape, the taste, the smell, and even the occasional black spots! Leslie also says that the trick to getting the most optimal taste is to deep fry them with canola oil for 4 mins exactly.

McSpicy

They're one of Mcdonald's best selling items, and it's no wonder why. It's iconic for its crispiness, spiciness, and their legendary ability to send people to the closest toilet. Yet, us Singaporeans just keep returning for more.

Now you can enjoy them in the comfort of your own home, with your own toilet just a few steps away. Thanks to netizen Nadiah Omar, who stumbled upon the frozen Fried Boneless Chicken Thigh ($9/800g). You can find them at selected supermarkets, or buy them online here!

Fillet-o-Fish

The closest dupe to a Fillet-o-Fish in supermarkets is the CP's AA Fish Patty, which sells for $6.50/312g, It’s a good steal with a similar flakiness and taste, albeit slightly smaller in size than McDonald’s version.

For the soft and pillowy hamburger buns, check out Fuji Bakery Hamburger Buns which are just for $2.60/10 pieces. In total, this homemade Fillet-o-Fish will cost you just $1.60!

Garlic Chilli

McDonald’s signature garlic chilli sauce goes well with everything on their menu. If you constantly wipe out chilli packets even though you always ask for "extra chilli", we've got great news for you!

Sinsin Garlic Chilli Sauce tastes just exactly like the original. Now you can have the chilli sauce with not just your fast food items, but everything else. The best part? It's just $2.20/bottle.

Hotcakes

McDonald's hotcakes are a popular breakfast item amongst many Singaporeans. Combined with their butter and maple syrup, they’re truly a match made in heaven.

Now you can make your own at home with the Betty Crocker Pancake Mix (Original Flavour) that retails for $3.90/box. Each box has enough mix for 8 to 10 pancakes, which will be enough to feed your whole family! They're also super easy to make, and almost impossible to mess up.
