As much as the year has been nothing like what we imagined it would be, it still shouldn’t stop us from making the most out of it. This month, live performances are given the green light to resume, along with a plethora of online and offline events, November is looking pretty lively.

Tuesdays With Morrie

After being closed for the last seven months, Singapore Repertory is reopening its doors with live performances of Tuesdays with Morrie. Based on Mitch Albom's best-selling memoir, Tuesdays with Morrie is a play so touching, powerful and celebratory it may change your outlook on life. It takes you on an intimate journey between mentor and student and their exploration of friendship, life and death. It will make you cry, think, feel… But above all it will make you laugh.

Christmas on a Great Street

Santa Claus is coming to town! It’s almost that time of the year again, where the streets of our famous shopping belt are decked with dazzling lights and decorations. President Mdm Halimah Yacob will officiate the closed-door Light-Up ceremony on Nov 13, which will be streamed live from the grounds of ION Orchard to Community Chest’s Facebook and YouTube channel. This year you will also be able to view the gorgeous displays from the comfort of your home as Christmas on A Great Street goes online with a 360-degree virtual drive that takes you along the 2.88-kilometre stretch from Tanglin Mall to Dhoby Ghaut.

The Great Grill Out 2020

Guinness’ Great Grill Out returns once again this November. A month-long love affair with Guinness, food, fire and music, this year the momentous experience is brought even closer to you and your loved ones. From virtual grilling classes to specially curated Guinness menus, you’ll be able to not only enjoy the Great Grill Out in Singapore’s bars and pubs, but also in the comfort of your own home.

Baybeats 2.0

After its first online edition in August, Baybeats has decided to make an online and offline combo return from Nov 6 to 8 – an unprecedented second time this year. Discover brand new homegrown sounds – and faces – through small-scale sets performed by a diverse range of artists dabbling in genres from dream pop and punk metal to indie-pop and hip-hop, and everything in between. For the first time, Baybeats is also moving indoors to the Esplanade’s Concert Hall and the grand Esplanade Theatre, with all performances live-streamed for home audiences and small groups of live audiences will be welcomed.

Singapore International Photography Festival

This year, the Singapore International Photography Festival explores the theme, Departing and Arriving. It is a sojourn to examine and trace our sense of belonging and identities amid current uncertainties through a line-up of international, regional and local artists. You’ll also spot the Inside Out mobile photo booth – a street art gallery made famous by anonymous French artist JR – for the first time in Singapore. The project aims to debut 1,000 portraitures of stories of people in Singapore, and they will be exhibited in multiple locations around the city from Nov 2.

Singapore Cocktail Festival 2020

This year, Singapore Cocktail Festival is bringing you a vibrant and socially responsible calendar of experiences that are designed to spur cocktail explorations in our city, at home, and even with cocktail destinations around the world. It kicks off with the SGCF City Takeover, where 21 bars around the city create signature cocktails inspired by neighbourhoods. Want to take part in masterclasses or enjoy your drinks at home? Most cocktails will be available via their online store and even come with a free can of Perrier!

BTS Pop-Up: Map of the Soul

BTS Army, assemble! In celebration of its 7th studio album Map of the Soul, the global phenomenon that is BTS is setting up shop at Plaza Singapura from Nov 14 to Feb 14. Singapore is one out of three lucky cities in Asia to host the 'dynamite' physical showcase, where fans can browse around 300 exclusive merchandise including wardrobe essentials and home accessories. Some of these wares are not even sold anywhere else – that's how exclusive it is! Expect a main showroom full of merch, and Insta-worthy spaces that mirror the concept and music video sets from the Map of the Soul album.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon

Time to bust out your running shoes because it’s almost time for this major running event again. But don't expect the usual race like previous years – this year sees a unique hybrid race format for participants to run through the streets of Singapore virtually and free of charge. Register for the outdoor or indoor race option with a compatible tracking device, or join the immersive augmented reality (AR) format on a treadmill. Powered by Rouvy, the AR format takes runners through the 'Best of Singapore' routes through iconic landmarks and scenic cityscapes.
