10 Nostalgic Singapore TV Shows on meWATCH

Do you remember sitting and lounging in front of the television screen back when there wasn’t YouTube and Netflix? The 90s and early 2000s were a great time indeed.

What better time to reminisce and revisit your favourite television shows, now that we’re all holed up inside our homes? Here are 10 iconic Singaporean TV shows you can catch on meWATCH!

Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd

The best in Singapore, JB, and some say Batam. What else is there to say about PCK? His iconic yellow boots, curly hair and giant mole was such a big part of our TV culture. And who can forget his rival, Frankie Foo?

Triple Nine

James Lye and Wong Li-Lin star in this action-drama police series, which revolves around crimes and the lives of police officers in Singapore. Police-themed series have always found success in Singapore, and it’s all thanks to Triple Nine that sparked off this genre.

Comedy Nite (搞笑行动)

Arguably, Mediacorp's best loved comedy programme. I’m not sure about you, but I’ve sure had many laugh-till-you-cry moments with Jack Neo, Mark Lee, Moses Lim and Henry Thia. Remember Liang Popo? And Liang Ximei? And her iconic line: “Aiyo, 真的是伤脑筋哦!!!”?

The Little Nyonya (小娘惹)

One of the greatest Channel 8 dramas, The Little Nyonya captured the hearts of many. Set in a Peranakan setting, the story spans over 70 years and several generations. Get your tissues ready if you’re prepared to revisit the series, cos there are  its heart-wrenching scenes!

Holland V (荷兰村)

Holland V is one of longest-running dramas in our TV history and revolves around the Mo family, who run a nasi lemak stall in the Holland Village neighbourhood. We can’t forget Chen Liping’s portrayal of Mo Wanwan, which even won her the Best Actress award!

Under One Roof

How can we leave out Under One Roof? I’m sure many of us remember the signature theme song of the iconic family living in Bishan!

Stepping Out (出路)

Adapted from a historical book, stepping out is a nostalgic drama which depicts the lives and struggles of early Fujian immigrants in Singapore. We’re willing to bet that many of you still remember the opening theme song by heart!

Living with Lydia

Starring none other than the lady of humour, Lydia Shum, Living with Lydia is a hilarious production of polar opposite worlds and their entire families under the same roof.

We miss you, Lydia!

The Unbeatables (双天至尊)

We all tried to shake dice and flick poker cards at one another because of this show, and we can’t finish this list without The Unbeatables. Its memorable characters and storyline left everyone looking forward to each and every episode!

So which of these series are you looking forward to revisiting? And what are your favourite nostalgic TV shows of the 90s and early 2000s? Comment to let us know!
