We're getting closer and closer to the end of the year, and to give yourself a pat yourself on the back for getting through it, you deserve a good meal (or maybe two) at these new cafes and restaurants in Singapore this December 2020. From Fire Ramen to an ice-cream parlour that opens till 2am, here are 10 new places to dine at.

Menbaka Fire Ramen

Dining at Menbaka is a one of a kind experience, because quite literally, your food is set on fire. For such an exciting spectacle, prices are surprisingly affordable. You have three types of ramen to choose from: Shoyu Fire Ramen ($17.90), Vegetarian Fire Ramen ($16.90), and Tonkotsu Fire Ramen ($18.90), which is a Singapore exclusive.

Rappu

From the folks behind The Feather Blade, Rappu is Singapore’s very first handroll-only restaurant. Expect specialty hand rolls with premium toppings such as Kanpachi (Amberjack), Engawa (Fluke Fin), and Toro (Tuna Belly). They even have a High Roller handroll ($28) that comes complete with uni, caviar, gold flakes, and served with gold flake sake to wash it all down with.

Haute & Cauld

Proclaiming themselves to be “Your girlfriend’s favourite ice cream cafe”, Haute & Cauld is an ice cream bar located in the heartlands of Bedok with a very Instagrammable neon-themed interior. The flavours here are equally vibrant – think Yubari Rock Melon and Pink Panther, alongside classics like Peanut Butter. Best enjoyed on a bed of waffles available in three flavours – charcoal, red velvet or buttermilk. Did we also already mention that they're open till 2am?

PIVOT

Office workers in the CBD area can look forward to a new breakfast spot. A five-minute walk away from Raffles Place MRT Station, PIVOT serves up a yummy repertoire of cakes, sandwiches, and coffee. Open bright and early at 7.30am, the cafe is a homely, quiet to start the day at.

Glass Roasters

Missing the minimalist cafes in Korea? Get a cuppa at the hole-in-the-wall Glass Roasters. With a modest space, Glass Roasters has a similarly petite menu with just Black ($4.50) or White ($5.80) coffee. It's quality over quantity here – the beans are single-origin ones from Columbia and personally roasted by the staff. The space is also pet-friendly, so your furry friends don't have to miss out!

5 By Sans Façon

Here's another one for the pawrents out there – 5 By Sans Façon is a new pet-friendly French establishment located at The Oval at Seletar Aerospace Park. The al fresco area is pet-friendly, but the restaurant also makes for a great spot for date night with their is rustic, old-timey and charming indoor dining area.

East Coast Commune

What makes a great cafe? We'd have to say good food, coffee, great ambience, and affordable prices. East Coast Commune checks all the boxes with their tropical-themed interior, tasty brunch grub and great prices! A classic Big Breakfast with sourdough waffles, two sunny side ups, mushrooms and spinach only comes up to $14 over here!

Lucali BYGB

Love New York pizzas? Hailing from Brooklyn, New York is Lucali BYGB, a pizzeria newly set up within the greenery of Kallang Riverside Park. Instead of the usual tables and chairs, the minimalist space is furnished with long tables and benches on unfinished concrete floors. And if you're not up for pizzas, the restaurant also serves oysters, pastas, salads and meatloaf.

Fuwa Fuwa SG

'Fuwa fuwa' stands for fluffy in Japanese, and although it's not a texture you'll usually associate with shaved ice, it's exactly what you'll get at Fuwa Fuwa SG. Specialising in kakigōri, or Japanese-style shaved ice, the cafe is dedicated to bringing you that fuwa fuwa mouthfeel. Their ice is specially custom-made and the shaving machine is imported from Japan!

Kevin Khoo Bistro

A Singlish wordplay on 'cabin crew', Kevin Khoo Bistro was born in a time of social and economic adversity. With the pandemic, many airline staff were forced to consider a change of industry and naturally, some found their way into F&B, including the founders and staff of this open-air restaurant. Serving up classic Western food, the menu here is extensive with very reasonable prices.
