From our collected reaction when bubble tea stores had to close last year, we just can’t deny the power bubble tea has in our lives. Drinks aside, we’ve seen a variety of bubble tea-related items, such as the bubble tea candles from Milksha and Dove and Playmade collaboration. Now, we have a milk tea gift set from Taiwanese skincare brand, Yuan Skincare.
This limited-edition gift set is called Zhen Yuan Man (珍圆满). According to Yuan Skincare, the inspiration comes from the traditional custom of gifting Chinese herbal products to express wishes of good health during Chinese New Year. Similarly, this gift will convey your blessings for a precious (珍贵 in Mandarin) and wholesome (圆满) new year.
The gift set consists of two soap: a oolong tea soap that resembles a giant pearl, and a pearl milk tea soap that’s shaped like a cup of bubble tea. The cute packaging of the pearl milk tea soap even includes a lid and straw! The milk tea portion is made from a variety of natural flowers, including wild yellow sage, lavender and bidens pilosa. And of course, it can’t be a bubble tea product without some brown sugar.
The “pearls” in the soap are made of oolong tea. While it is delicious to drink in BBT form, in the soap the formulation helps to alleviate skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis, and also has a pore-tightening effect.
Yuan Skincare’s soaps are handmade with traditional oriental herbs grown locally in Taiwan, edible plant oil and pure spring water sourced from Yang Ming Shan. Unlike standing in line and waiting five minutes for your bubble tea drink, each soap bar is crafted via a detailed 18 step-process, before being condensed at room temperature for 60 days to ensure that the herbs and their properties are fully infused. Every bar contains no preservatives, additives or artificial colouring. It is suitable for those with sensitive skin and to help soothe any existing skin conditions.
