7 Farms To Visit in Singapore to Get Out Into Nature

While we might not have cattle grazing by the highway, that’s not to say that there aren’t little pockets of farms in Singapore where we can experience a simpler way of life. In fact, there's an impressive variety of farms in Singapore! Whether you're looking for a family-friendly weekend activity or just a break from the hustle and bustle, check out this list of farms in Singapore for a break from the city life.

1. FleurHouse Edible Farm

At Fleurhouse, farming has never been easier! Founded by an entrepreneurial duo with a vision for more people cultivating the habit of growing their own microgreens and edibles, Fleurhouse also conducts workshops with farm tours to provide an educational and holistic learning experience. Don’t have green fingers? The professionals here will teach you everything you need to know about growing your own edible garden.

2. Hay Dairies Goat Farm

Singapore’s only goat farm, Hay Dairies has more than 800 goats of various breeds on its farm. You're free to walk around the farm and watch the goat milking process, feed the goats, or pet them. The milking takes place daily from 9am to 10.30am, so make sure to get here early if you want to see them lining up for their turn while munching on hay! You can also purchase some alfalfa hay at $5 per bag to feed the goats. And make sure to try some fresh goat’s milk. Straight from the farm and super yummy!

3. The Sundowner Farm & Lounge

The Sundowner is an urban farm and nature-based experience centre, atop a conserved shophouse in the hip Siglap restaurant belt. Previous guests have said that being up here transports them to their time overseas in places like London or Australia! Attend their Rooftop Farm Experience and learn how everything in nature is interconnected: how bio-active soil grows healthy plants, which produce flowers and fruits! Don a bee suit and get up close to observe how active honeybees forage and tend to their nest. Finally, savour some nutritious honey and garnish your own cocktails (or kombucha for a healthier alternative).

4. Qian Hu Fish Farm

Singapore's largest ornamental fish supplier, Qian Hu Fish Farm has over a hundred species of fishes. They offer a guided tour which educates visitors of all ages on the many different types of fish and where they come from. After the educational farm tour, you are free to go longkang fishing where you’re allowed to catch the fishes with the provided nets – or your own hands if you dare! The best part? You can bring them home after that. If longkang fishing isn’t really your thing, you can also visit Qian Hu’s own fish spa to show some love to your feet!

5. Bollywood Farms

One of the most beloved farms in Singapore, Bollywood Farms has expanded over the years to include a culinary school and a museum. Take your kids on a 30-minute farm tour where you’ll get your hands and feet dirty in their paddy field, and enjoy activities such as treasure hunts and culinary challenges. We hope you’re hungry, because there’s even a bistro that uses pesticide- and fertilizer-free ingredients harvested from the backyard. Food just doesn’t get fresher than this!

6. Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum of Singapore

In case you didn’t know, there is actually a turtle and tortoise farm in Singapore, and they’re the proud holder of the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of turtle and tortoise items. Here, you’ll be able to see rare species like the Radiated Tortoise and Alligator Turtle, and you can even pat and hand feed some of them. Aside from giant turtles, you'll also find cute terrapins, as well as other unique species such as the Six Legged Tortoise and the Alligator Snapping Turtle (no sorry, you can’t feed the snapping turtles!)

7. Gallop Kranji Farm Resort

You’ll forget you’re still in Singapore at Gallop Kranji Farm Resort. Not just a farm for day visits, there are actually also villas here for you to stay the night!  The local farm stay experience also comes with plenty of activities like animal interactions, pony rides, prawning and also a play area for the young ones. There are also a number of other farm tours nearby, including Bollywood Veggies!
