Known as Jay Chou-endorsed as well as his favourite bubble tea brand, 麥吉 Machi Machi opened its doors in Singapore early this year. Local singer Hong Junyang is a co-owner of the Singapore's outlet, and JJ Lin is also said to be a big fan! With such a star-studded backing, we sure have high expectations for its drinks!
Fun fact: Machi Machi was featured in Jay Chou's 說好不哭 MV, and it's named after his wife Hannah Quinlivan’s pet Pomeranian!
Prior to its debut in Singapore, Machi Machi made its name in the Taipei East district with their hand-shaken drinks. With an extensive drinks menu, you might have trouble trying everything out in one go. But fret not, because today we'll be sharing some of their most popular drinks, so you can hop right into it after the circuit breaker ends!
Machi Machi is probably best known as the "Cheese Tea God", as nicknamed by Taiwanese media, serving up cold tea with a generous layer of milk and cream cheese foam on top. Their cream cheese is flown in from New Zealand, blended with fresh butter from Japan and fresh milk from Tainan. Talk about only using the top quality stuff!
From their menu, some of the most popular drinks include Cream Cheese Foam Black Milk Tea ($5.50), Cream Cheese Foam Oolong Tieguanyin Tea ($5.50), Strawberry Latte with Panna Cotta ($8.50) and Black Tea Latte with Panna Cotta ($7.50).
For an alternative from the rich dairy flavours, Jasmine Green Tea with Plum Jello ($6.00) and Jasmine Green Tea with Fresh Fruits ($6.50) are big hits too!
