Face Mask With Opening for Bubble Tea Straws Now Available in Singapore

Bubble tea should be our national drink. As Singaporeans, we take our bubble tea very seriously.

So imagine our disappointment when all the bubble tea stores had to close during the circuit breaker. Thankfully, that's a nightmare that we (hopefully) won't have to relive again.

In the new normal where face masks are mandatory, what many of us miss most is the once taken-for-granted pleasure of slowly sipping on our bubble teas while strolling along the streets. These days, if you take off your mask entirely to sip on your bubble tea, people give you judgy stares. If you pull your mask down halfway, you look totally weird and can sometimes accidentally dirty your mask.

And it seems like we're not the only ones who have the same problem.

A few days ago, Philippine-based milk tea company Gallontea introduced the Sippy Face Mask, a face mask with a silicone opening that will allow all of us to drink our favourite bubble tea without having to take off our masks. The opening allows customers to insert their straws and sip away, hassle-free.

Just remember to seal the opening once you're done with your drink!

Many netizens responded with great enthusiasm to the Sippy Face Mask, some going as far as to claim that the mask is a "genius" invention.

Some say that it's an invention that's been long-awaited.

One netizen even declared it an essential item!

If you're a bubble tea lover like me and one of those disappointed that the Sippy Face Mask by Gallontea is only available in the Philippines, here's a great piece of news: You can now preorder your very own bubble tea face mask in Singapore!

Renowned Chinese bubble tea brand The Whale Tea is now accepting preorders for its new product.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday (Aug 19), the brand shared a picture of its product, which has a secure hole "with restricted access only for bubble tea straws". According to the post, the hole is 14mm wide, with a velcro seal for extra protection.

Preorders are available now, with each piece priced at $9.99. To order, you can send a private message to The Whale Tea City Square Mall's Instagram profile!
