For some, it might be vintage titles and collectibles that you’re looking for. Here are five fan-approved comic book stores in Singapore where you can get your hands on your favourite comics!
1. Comics World
One of the pioneers in our local comic book scene, Comics World has been around since 1987. The racks are lined with thousands of comics and you’re likely to find rare issues of Batman, as well as the latest copy of X-Men.The extensive list of new shipments is also regularly updated on their website, so fans can stay in the loop and know when to drop by. Whether you’re already a seasoned comic book fan or just getting into the scene, Comics World is the place to start.
2. Absolute Comics
This store at Plaza Singapore stocks shelves and shelves of comic book gems and stay up-to-date with the latest releases, from Batman to Star Wars and even Adventure Time. Other than comics, there are also printed tees, hoodies, action figures and other collectibles to add on to your collection – all available to purchase online too!
3. Silver Kris
This hidden gem in Marine Parade Food Centre went viral back in 2020 for their vintage copies of comics going for cheap – three copies for just $10! Run by an elderly couple, collectors can expect a myriad of DC and Marvel comics from the 80s and 90s, as well as rare titles in strung-up plastic wrappers. Don’t expect them to be in pristine condition though, and you just might find yourself a couple of precious hidden gems to bring home.
4. Wonderific Comics
Wonderific Comics have closed their store at Holland Village and gone fully online! You’ll still be left spoilt for choice with copies of Eternals, Spider Woman, Daredevil, Ghost Rider and many more. And if you’re a serious collector, Wonderific Comics also stocks comic boxes featuring Carnage and X-Men!
5. GnB Comics
There’s a sense of camaraderie within the comic community and if you’ve ever been to Singapore Comic-Con (STGCC), you’ll know exactly what we mean! Prior to Covid, GnB Comics used to host regular events where comic book fans, artists and writers could connect. It doesn’t seem like these have resumed, but fans can still pre-order copies of titles like Moon Knight, Ironman, Star Wars, Captain Marvel and more!
