7 Mooncakes to Order from Local Home Bakers, Including One For Your Dogs

Last week we rounded up some of the best mooncakes this year, and you might've noticed that they're all from established brands, restaurants and hotels. Here at Trending.SG, we're all for supporting local, so we also want to shine a light on some of our homegrown home bakers!

And now that Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner, it seems like many home bakers have switched from cookies and burnt cheesecakes to – you guessed it – mooncakes.

@rachelrax

Galaxy-themed mooncakes anyone? These delightful little mooncakes are sure to wow your Instagram followers as well as your tastebuds. @tasteabakes started out with burnt cheesecakes but they've also started making snowskin mooncakes for Mid-Autumn! They are 100% homemade with no preservatives, no artificial colouring and less sugar. Look forward to four flavours with Blue Pea with Lotus, Matcha with Red Bean, Original with Sweet Potato & Cranberry and Sweet Potato with Taro.

Prices start at $26 for a bundle of two. Order via DM.

Flaky yam mooncakes might not be very common, but they're sure a thing! If they're your favourite type of mooncakes, consider supporting @thepatiobaker's Rainbow Teochew Orh Nee Mooncakes! They come with single yolks too, and even sugar-free options for those who are health-conscious. Make sure you make your order soon because slots are filling up fast!

We've had sweet and savoury mooncakes, but what about spicy ones? Made with lotus paste and nyonya sambal, these unique mooncakes are sure to hit a new spot. Want something more traditional? @charlesbakery is also making traditional assorted nuts mooncakes made with bak kwa, walnuts, bitter almonds, regular almonds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds.

$58 for a box of four. Order via DM!
