5 Places to Get Your Daily Dose of Good News

Everyone loves reading positive, uplifting stories, but with a deadly pandemic in 2020, divides and protests sparked by social injustice, good news became more than just lighthearted relief — it became something to restore faith in humanity. The year also saw a serious spike in Google searches for "good news", and platforms dedicated to sharing positive content saw increased popularity too.

While good news certainly doesn't cancel out the bad news in the world, it does have the power to uplift our moods, so why not make consuming good news a regular act of self-care?

Next time you catch yourself doomscrolling, take a step back and seek out some good news from one of the sources below.

Positive News

As its name suggests, Positive News is the magazine for good journalism about good things. Founded in 1993, the organization is a pioneer of ‘constructive journalism’ – a new approach in the media, which is about journalism focused on progress, possibility, and solutions. The site publishes stories on a wide range of topics, including society, environment, lifestyle, science, and economics.

Good News Network

Good News Network's mission is to provide readers with a “daily dose of news to enthuse”. They have an archive of 21,000 positive news stories from around the globe, which confirms what we already know – good news itself is not in short supply; only the broadcasting of it is. For those on-the-go, the site also has mobile apps for Android and iOS. While you're standing in line at the supermarket, why not get a dose of good news instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media?

The Pride by Singapore Kindness Movement

For something closer to home, Singapore Kindness Movement aims to encourage individuals to internalise courtesy, kindness and consideration. The Pride is their publication that's filled with stories of kindness in Singapore, and it's sure to bring a smile on your face.

Apart from @kindnesssg, Here are some IG accounts that will brighten your feed and break up the usual stream of friends and food posts:

r/UpliftingNews

Reddit might not be a website that comes to mind when you think of good news, but the Uplifting News subreddit is a place where people can read and share positive, uplifting and feel-good news stories, as well as interact with other users to form positive connections. Everybody wins! Bonus if you're a dog lover: make sure to also check out r/PupliftingNews!
