With all the tall buildings all around us it’s hard to see the open sky in Singapore, but that means we get to enjoy some of the best views from up high. The only thing is that most of them are attractions, rooftop restaurants or bars, which means you’ve got to spend some cash to get to it. For those days when you just want to climb up a rooftop and forget the world, here are some of the best free views in Singapore.
1. Henderson Waves
At 36 metres above the ground, Henderson Waves is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and the perfect spot to escape the city. Part of the Southern Ridges connecting Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park, the ridges and seats also make it a very romantic spot for couples, or just for small groups to hang out.
2. Pearl's Hill City Park
An under-the-radar spot, Pearl's Hill City Park is a short stroll from Outram Park or Chinatown MRT. A reservoir is at top of a hill and you can relax amongst the greenery, feed the terrapins in the pond, and admire views of the city skyline and lush green trees.
3. SkyVille@Dawson
Unlike Pinnacle@Duxton, there are no fees required to access this breezy rooftop garden! With a 300m walking track and panoramic views of the Singapore coast and skyline, it's an excellent place to check out, be it in the day or night. There are also benches here for a dinner date or to do some work outside.
4. People's Park Complex
The iconic mustard yellow building houses a rooftop carpark for an impromptu photoshoot, or for a beautiful view of the contrast of skyscrapers and the shophouses. The easiest way up is by car, or you can take the lift in the mall and then climb your way up from the fifth floor.
5. Esplanade Roof Terrace
In the heart of the city, Esplanade Roof Terrace is an amazing spot to relax or have a takeaway meal while enjoying views of the city. It’s also a prime spot for views of the sunrise and sunset, and you can often find photographers here trying to capture the golden hour.
